Bethlehem residents are hoping that casino goers will stay to enjoy the town’s culture

Citizens of Bethlehem Pennsylvania are hoping that casino players will take the time to enjoy the other things the area has to offer.

The casino will be built on the site of the former Bethlehem Steel Co, and the town is now planning a visitor’s center on the same site.

The visitor center will house bathrooms, food and drinks, a souvenir shop, as well as a concert hall and information on the history of the area.

Today the 2 year old gaming commission is expected to announce who is going to get the license for the area.

The visitors center is expected to be located in one of the original building left over from the Bethlehem Iron Works and was build in 1898. The building needs lots of work, many of the windows have been broken and parts of the roof have caved in.

''This will preserve the old building, interpret the city's history and show everything that the city has to offer,'' said the president of Arts Quest. ''This is an ideal use.''

Locals are hoping that people will not only come to the casino but stay long enough to see some of the local attractions and shop at some of the local stores.

Many residents are disturbed by the traffic and the element a casino in their small town may bring.
